Southern Idaho's Jones Jr. named Spalding® DI Player of the Year

Colorado Springs, CO – After leading Southern Idaho to the national championship game, sophomore Charles Jones Jr. has been named the 2017-18 Spalding® NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Player of the Year.

A first team All-America selection, Jones Jr. led the Golden Eagles to a 31-6 record that included a dominant run through the national tournament where Southern Idaho averaged 100.8 points per game. During the five-game run to the national title game, Jones Jr. averaged 24.2 points per game. Jones Jr. was a repeat All-American selection after earning third-team honors as a freshman.

Jones Jr.’s sophomore campaigned was only part of a stellar career at Southern Idaho. In 2017-18, the Portland, OR native amassed 670 points for a career total of 1,194, one point shy of the all-time school record. 

The 6-2 guard’s ability to score was noticed heavily throughout the year as Jones Jr. committed to the University of Utah for the 2018-19 season.
